Characteristics of sidebar
Overview
The main characteristics of a "Sidebar" control are configured:
  • in the "General" tab of control description: you have the ability to configure each sidebar pane.
  • in the "GUI" tab of control description: you have the ability to configure the management of panes.
  • in the "Details" tab of control description: you have the ability to configure the background image of panes.
Configuring the sidebar panes
The "General" tab in the description window of "Sidebar" control is used to:
  • add, delete, insert new tabs.
  • configure for the pane selected in the preview:
    • the initial pane status.
    • its caption.
    • the image associated with the pane caption.
Caution: This image does not correspond to the background image of pane but to an image displayed on the left of caption.
Note: No automatic scrollbar is found in the sidebar panes. If some controls cannot be displayed, the controls are truncated.
Managing panes
The "GUI" tab in the description window of "Sidebar" control is used to manage the display of sidebar panes.
You have the ability to configure:
  • the animation when changing pane.
  • the storage of active pane. If this option is selected, the active pane will be stored when closing the window. This pane will be automatically selected during the next window opening.
Managing the background image of panes
The "Details" tab in the description of "Sidebar" control is used to manage the background image of panes. This image is used by all the pane buttons. This image can contain the different states of the button associated with the pane.
Tip: To get outstanding images, check the image catalog of WINDEV/WINDEV Mobile and select a button image with 5 states.

States of panes

The different states of the pane can be managed via the image associated with the pane.
Each status corresponds to a specific drawing. All the drawings are saved in a single image. This image is associated with the pane: all you have to do is specify the number of states (or drawings) found in the image file.
Example: image file BluePane.gif
Idle, pressed, grayed, selected, hovered pane

Note: To manage the pdf and svg formats, GDIPLUS.DLL must be installed for the computers running Windows 2000 and earlier. For the later versions, this DLL is supplied with Windows. See GDI+ framework for more details.
Windows Mobile Only the following image formats are supported: BMP, ICO, PNG, JPEG or GIF.

Special case: image of 3-image panes

The image of panes will be automatically divided into 3 images by WINDEV.
The dividing rule is as follows:
  • the image is divided into three sections
  • the section 1 corresponds to the left area
  • the section 3 corresponds to the right area
  • the section 2 corresponds to the middle area. The size of this section is equal to 16 pixels. If the tab pane is proportional to the caption, this section will be repeated as many times as necessary to contain the caption.
Note: If the section 2 of your image is smaller than 16 pixels, it is better not to use a pane proportional to the caption and to include (if necessary) the additional images and the caption in the image.
Minimum required version
  • Version 9
