The "Modifier"pane
Overview
The "Modifier" pane is used to view and/or modify, from the window editor, page editor or report editor, the main characteristics:
  • of the selected controls.
  • of the selected window or page.
  • of the selected report or report block.
The different characteristics can be:
  • grouped by category ("Category" tab).
  • listed in alphabetical order ("Name" tab).
Displaying the "Modifier" pane
To display the modifier, select "Tools .. Options .. Options of the environment", "Panes" tab and check "Modifier".To display the "Modifier" pane, on the "Home" pane, in the "Environment" group, expand "Panes" and select "Modifier".

Viewing and/or modifying the characteristics
The "Modifier" pane is used to view and/or modify the main characteristics:
  • of the selected controls.
  • of the selected window or page.
  • of the selected report or block.
Notes:
  • The last action performed in the modifier can be canceled via "Edit .. Cancel" (or [Ctrl]+[Z])To cancel the last action performed in the modifier, on the "Home" pane, in the "Action" group, click "Cancel" (or [Ctrl]+[Z]).
  • Some characteristics cannot be modified (creation date and time for example).

Viewing and/or modifying the characteristics of one or more controls with the modifier

To view and/or modify the characteristics of one or more controls with the modifier:
  1. Select the controls to modify:
    • in the window, page or report directly (see Select one or more controls).
    • via the drop-down list of the modifier. In this case, a single control can be selected at a time. The handles of the selected control are automatically displayed.
      If several controls are selected, only the information common to the selected controls is displayed in the modifier.
  2. Perform the necessary modifications. These modifications are performed on all the selected controls. You can:
    • select the new value in a drop-down list.
    • select the new value in a screen (color modification for example).
    • modify the value directly.
Note: In order for the characteristics displayed in the modifier to correspond to the element selected in the drop-down list of the modifier (and not to the element currently selected in WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile):
  1. Select "Display .. Options .. Modify the options", "Options" tab.
  2. Uncheck "Display the properties in the modifier".
  1. On the "Display" pane, in the "Options" group, click the group icon ( ).
  2. In the window that is displayed, display the "Options" tab.
  3. Uncheck "Display the properties in the modifier" and validate.
In this case, the modifier will not be updated with the characteristics of the element selected in WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile.

Viewing and/or modifying the characteristics of a window, page or report with the modifier

To view and/or modify the characteristics of a window, page or report with the modifier:
  1. Open (if necessary) the requested window or page ("File .. Open".Open the window or the page if necessary ( among the quick access buttons).
  2. Select the window or the page:
    • click the background of the window, page or report.
    • select the name of the window, page or report in the drop-down list of the modifier.
  3. The characteristics of the window, page or report are displayed in the modifier.
  4. Perform the necessary modifications. You can:
    • select the new value in a drop-down list.
    • select the new value in a screen (color modification for example).
    • modify the value directly.
