Overview
The setup editor WPINST is used to configure the characteristics of the files to install. You can:
  • specify the destination directory of one or more files.
  • define the shortcuts to create.
  • find out the version of a file.
  • implement the automatic modification of the data files.
  • define the options for starting the application.
Configuring the characteristics of the files to install
The characteristics of the files to install are configured in WPINST ("Tools .. WPINST- Setup editor").The characteristics of the files to install are configured in WPINST. To start WPInst, on the "Tools" pane, in the "Utilities" group, click "WPInst".
Destination directory of one or more files to install
The destination directory was specified when the file is added into the list of files to install.
To modify the destination directory of one or more files:
  1. Select the requested files in the list of files to install.
    To select several files simultaneously, keep the [Ctrl] or [Shift] key down when selecting files.
  2. Display the "Path" tab.
  3. Specify the destination directory of the selected files ("Directory"). The following keywords can be used:
    • <SetupDir>: setup directory chosen by the user during the setup.
    • <WinDir>: directory of Windows on the user computers.
      For example: "<SetupDir>\MyDirectory".
  4. If a single file is selected, this file can be renamed during its setup. All you have to do is specify the new name of the file ("File").
Note: The destination directory of a file can also be directly modified in the list of files to install. To do so, click the "Destination directory" column and enter the new destination directory.
Shortcuts to associate with a file

Overview

For each file to install, WPINST (the setup editor) enables you to create:
  • a shortcut in the "Programs" menu of the setup computer.
  • a shortcut in the group of programs of the setup computer.
By default, for each executable installed, a shortcut will be created in the "Programs" menu of the setup computer.

Creating a shortcut in the "Programs" menu of the setup computer

  1. Select the requested file in the list fo files to install.
  2. Display the "Shortcut" tab.
  3. Check "Create a shortcut in the "Programs" menu".
  4. Enter the group of programs where the shortcut must be created.
    Note: This group of programs will be created if it does not exist on the user computer.

Creating a shortcut in a group of programs

To create a shortcut in a group of programs:
  1. Select the requested file in the list fo files to install.
  2. Display the "Shortcut" tab.
  3. Check "Create a shortcut in a group of programs".
  4. Enter the group of programs where the shortcut must be created.
    Note: This group of programs will be created if it does not exist on the user computer.
  5. Enter the caption of this shortcut.
File version
The "Version" tab is used to find out the date, the time and the version of the file installed.
Modifying the data files
The "HyperFileSQL" tab is used to specify whether the automatic data modification is supported.The "HFSQL" tab is used to specify whether the automatic data modification is supported.
The "Advanced" button is used to configure the options of the automatic modification (modification of the password during the automatic modification for example). See Configuring the automatic modification of data files in WPINST for more details.
Options for starting the application
The "Pocket PC " tab allows you to associate an executable with one or more events occurring on the Pocket PC.
Therefore, the executable can be run:
  • when switching the Pocket PC on ("On/Off" button of the Pocket PC),
  • when rebooting the Pocket PC,
  • when connecting the Pocket PC to the PC (before ActiveSync)
  • after synchronizing the Pocket PC and the PC (after ActiveSync)
Note: In this version, the setup program can only activate an event. To disable an event (during an update for example), use AutoRunDelete.
Options for starting the application
The "Framework" tab is used to find out the setup options of the WINDEV Mobile framework. To modify these options, you must regenerate the executable while modifying the load options of the framework.
The available options are:
  • Don't install the framework: The framework is not installed with the application.
  • Use the common framework. In this case, the framework is installed once on the mobile device, regardless the number of WINDEV Mobile applications used on the mobile device.
  • Use the common renamed framework. In this case, the framework is installed once on the mobile device, regardless the number of WINDEV Mobile applications used on the mobile device. The framework DLLs are renamed.
  • Use the framework specific to the executable. In this case, the framework is installed on the mobile device with the application.
  • Use the framework specific to the executable (renamed DLLs). In this case, the framework is installed on the mobile device with the application. The framework DLLs are renamed.
