Description window of a union query
Overview
The description window of a union query includes several sections. This description window is used to:
  • change the queries used in the query.
  • modify the runtime order of queries.
    Reminder: The items displayed in the result of the union query correspond to the items of the first query run.
  • view the query in SQL code or in natural language.
  • manage the "duplicate" records.
  • sort the records.
This description window is displayed:
  • when creating a Select query ("File .. New .. Query").when creating a Select query.
    Reminder: To create a query:
    • Click among the quick access buttons.
    • Click "Queries" in the wheel that is displayed. The window for creating a new element is displayed: click "Queries".
  • from a Union query displayed in the query editor ("Query description" from the popup menu of the query).
Description window of a union query
This section of the description window of a query mainly lists the different items that can be used in the query.
List of select queries that can be used in the union query.
Note: To select several queries, keep the [Ctrl] key down.
Used to add or delete the selected queries to/from the union query.
List of queries used in the union query. These queries are displayed in their runtime order.
Modify the order in which the queries are run.
Used to keep or delete the duplicated records (duplicates) from the result of the union query.
List of result items for the union query.
Reminder: These items correspond to the items from the first query run.
Used to perform or cancel the sort on a query item.
Displays:
  • the union query in natural language.
  • the SQL code corresponding to the union query.
Note: The floating help of this window (green and transparent help) is automatically displayed. The floating help is displayed when the mouse cursor does not move. To remove this help:
  • for the current WINDEV/WEBDEV session: press [Alt]+[F1] simultaneously.
  • permanently: display the configuration options of the query editor ("Tools .. Options .. Options of the editor") and check "Don't display the floating help".permanently:
    • display the configuration options of the query editor: on the "Home" pane, in the "Environment" group, expand "Options", select "Options of the query editor".
    • check "Don't display the floating help".
