Disrupted communication in FTP and HTTP

The WINDEV application may be locked if the communication is disrupted: you must switch off and restart the Pocket PC in order to reinitialize the communication layer of Windows Mobile.
To display a message indicating the problem and the possible solution, the process to monitor should be included in a thread (the FTP transfer for exmaple). This thread will be monitored on a regular basis. If a problem occurs, you will have the ability to display a message in plain words (for example "A network failure occurred. Some applications may not operate properly. We advise you to restart your Mobile").
Some examples

Communication by infrared

The communication by infrared is performed by the Socket functions. A communication can be established between the following devices:
  • two mobile devices.
  • a mobile device (Pocket PC) and a Smartphone.
  • a mobile device (Pocket PC) and a PC.
  • a mobile device (Pocket PC) and any device equipped with an infrared port (printer, electric gate, ...).
See Managing sockets with WINDEV for more details.
Note: To operate, each device must be equipped with an infrared port (IRDA protocol: Infrared Data Association).

Communication by Wi-Fi

The communication by Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) can be used to transfer files by FTP for example.
See Handling files on an FTP server for more details.
Note: To operate, each device must be equipped with a Wi-Fi card.

Communication by GPRS

The communication by GPRS can be used to access a remote HFSQL database via Internet for example.
