Describing a WEBDEV account
Overview
The WEBDEV accounts are required to install a dynamic site on a Web server. The description window of a WEBDEV account groups the information required to manage the account in several tabs:
Note: From version 19, HFSQL is the new name of HyperFileSQL.
The different tabs

"General" tab

This tab is used to configure the general options of the WEBDEV account:
  • The identification of the account.
  • The number of connections and sites allowed for the account.
  • The directories linked to the account.
Identification of the account
  • The "Account disabled" option is used to temporarily disable an account: this account can no longer perform remote setups or updates, and it cannot use the remote WEBDEV administrator. However, the dynamic WEBDEV sites associated with this account will still be active and available.
  • The "Password" button is used to modify (if necessary) the password of the account.
Connections and sites
You can configure:
  • the maximum number of connections allowed for all the dynamic sites of site manager. This number applies to all the dynamic WEBDEV sites belonging to the site manager. The site manager can distribute them among his WEBDEV sites via the remote WEBDEV administrator.
  • the maximum number of sites allowed for the site manager.
Directories linked to the account
  • Directory of FTP connection: Directory where the files required for the remote setup and update of a dynamic site will be transferred. This directory must be identical to the default directory of the FTP account used.
Reminder: To allow the dynamic sites to be deployed by FTP, the server administrator must follow these steps:
    • Step 1: Installing the WEBDEV application server on the Web server.
    • Step 2: In an FTP server, creating and configuring an FTP account for the WEBDEV site manager.
    • Step 3: In the WEBDEV administrator, defining a WEBDEV account for the site manager.
    • Step 4: Transmitting the parameters to the WEBDEV site manager. See Information that will be transmitted to the site manager for more details
  • Home directory of sites: Directory where the files used by the dynamic WEBDEV 23 sites of this account are (or will be) installed. A sub-directory with the name of the site will be created for each site.
Example: Home directory of sites: D:\MySites\Client_FP. The sites installed by this account (HTML files, and so on) will be copied to a sub-directory. Therefore, the "PhotoSite" site will be installed in the "D:\MySites\Client_FP\PhotoSite" directory.
Note: The home directory of dynamic sites must be specified to allow the site manager to perform remote setups or remote updates of his sites.
  • Home directory of data files: Directory where the data files (HFSQL database) used by the different dynamic sites of this site manager are (or will be) installed. A sub-directory with the name of the site will be created for each site.
Example: Home directory of data files: E:\Files\Client_FP. The data files (.FIC, .NDX, .MMO, ...) of the different dynamic sites installed by this account will be copied to a sub-directory. Therefore, the files of the "PhotoSite" site will be installed in the "E:\Files\Client_FP\PhotoSite" directory.
Note: The home directory of data files must be specified to allow the site manager to perform remote setups or remote updates of his sites.

"User" tab

This tab is used to specify the information regarding the site manager. It allows you to identify the site manager and to find out his personal details.

"Applications" tab

This tab is used to associate the dynamic WEBDEV site to the current account.
No site must be associated with the site manager if no dynamic site was installed by himself on the computer.
When new dynamic WEBDEV sites are installed remotely (by FTP), these sites will be automatically assigned to the corresponding account.
If the site manager installed a dynamic WEBDEV site during a setup by physical media, his site is displayed in the list of unassigned sites: the "Add" button is used to associate an account with a site.

"HFSQL" tab

This tab allows you to specify the characteristics of the HFSQL server to use (for a site that is using a HFSQL Client/Server database).
The following information is required:
  • the name or address of the HFSQL server.
  • the port of the HFSQL server.
  • the login and password that will be used to connect to the HFSQL server.
  • the name of the database used.
The "Test" button is used to check whether the specified parameters are correct.
Note: This information is given for information only and it is not used by the WEBDEV engine.
