Overview
The "custom-folders" simplify the organization of projects by allowing you to group the application elements by themes. The custom folders are available:
  • for each category of elements found in the project explorer: windows, reports, ...
  • at project level.

Creating a custom-folder

To create a custom-folder:
  1. Display the project graph ("Project .. Project graph").Display the project graph: on the "Project" pane, in the "Project" group, click .
  2. Select "New .. New custom-folder" from the popup menu of project graph.
  3. Type the name of custom-folder and validate. The custom-folder appears in the project graph as a yellow folder. This custom-folder can be customized. See Actions that can be performed on a custom-folder for more details.
Notes:
  • You also have the ability to create a custom-folder from the "Project explorer" pane ("New custom-folder" from the popup menu).
  • If you are using SCM, you must be Master on the project to create a custom-folder: the custom-folder will be carried over during the next synchronization. Otherwise, the created custom-folder will disappear during the next synchronization.
  • If you are using the developer groupware, you must have all the rights on the project to create a custom-folder ("Project .. Developer groupware .. I take all the rights on the project").

Creating a custom-folder

To create a custom-folder:
  1. Display the "Project explorer" pane if necessary.
  2. Select the folder in which the custom-folder will be created: Windows, Pages, ...
  3. Select "New custom-folder" from the popup menu.
  4. Type the name of custom-folder and validate. The custom-folder is displayed in the project explorer as a yellow folder. This custom-folder can be customized. See Actions that can be performed on a custom-folder for more details.
Notes:
  • You also have the ability to create a custom-folder from the project graph. The custom-folders are also displayed in the project graph.
  • If you are using SCM, you must be Master on the project to create a custom-folder: the custom-folder will be carried over during the next synchronization. Otherwise, the created custom-folder will disappear during the next synchronization.

Opening a custom-folder

To open a custom-folder:
  • double-click the custom-folder in the project graph.
  • select "Open the custom-folder" from the popup menu of custom-folder in the "Project explorer" pane.
In both cases, the content of custom-folder is displayed and a new folder appears on the left of screen.
Note: The project itself is considered a being a custom-folder.
To open a custom-folder, double-click the custom-folder name in the "Project explorer" pane.
Note: If the project graph is displayed, to open a custom-folder, all you have to do is double-click its name. The content of custom-folder appears and a new folder is displayed on the left of screen. To close the custom-folder, all you have to do is click the cross of corresponding folder (on the left of screen).

Associating the project elements with a custom-folder

The association between a project element and a custom-folder can be performed:
  • from the project graph.
  • from the "Project explorer" pane.
To associate a project element with a custom-folder from the project graph:
  • Drag and Drop the requested element from the project graph to the relevant custom-folder.
  • select "Send to" from the popup menu of request element in the project graph and select the relevant custom-folder.
In both cases, we advise you to rebuild the project graph (to do so, select "Rebuild the graph" from the popup menu of project graph).
To associate a project element with a custom-folder from the "Project explorer" pane:
  1. Select the requested element in the "Project explorer" pane.
  2. Drag and Drop the element to the requested custom-foldfer.
To associate the same element with several custom-folders, keep the CTRL key down during Drag and Drop to the custom-folder.
Note: When saving a new element, the following window is displayed:
This window is used to specify the custom-folder to which the current element will be associated. In order for this window to be automatically displayed whenever a new element is saved, check "Ask for the location of new elements in the project" in the "Options" tab of project description ("Project .. A project element can be associated with several custom-folders.
Note: Custom-folder and SCM
If you are using the SCM, you must be master on the project to associate a new element with a custom-folder. In this case, the other developers must choose "SCM .. Project management .. Get the Master version" to retrieve the element in the custom-folder. In all the other cases, the element will be retrieved but it will not be included in the custom-folder.If you are using the SCM, you must be master on the project to associate a new element with a custom-folder. In this case, to retrieve the element in the custom-folder, the other developers must:
  • on the "SCM" pane, in the "Project" group, expand "Master/Guest".
  • select "Get the Master version (full)".
In all the other cases, the element will be retrieved but it will not be included in the custom-folder.
A guest can include an element in a custom-folder. However, the other developers cannot retrieve the element in the same custom-folder: they will only retrieve the element.
To associate a project element with a custom-folder:
  1. Select the requested element in the "Project explorer" pane.
  2. Drag and Drop the element to the requested custom-foldfer.

Dissociating an element from a custom-folder

To dissociate an element from a custom-folder:
  • in the project graph, open the relevant custom-folder and Drag and Drop the element to the project folder.
  • in the "Project explorer" pane, Drag and Drop the element from the custom-folder to the project name.
To dissociate an element from a custom-folder:
  1. In the "Project explorer" pane, select the element to dissociate.
  2. Drag and Drop the element found in the custom-folder to the project name.
Note: If you are using the project graph, open the relevant custom-folder and Drag and Drop the element toward the project folder.

Renaming a custom-folder

A custom-folder can be renamed:
  • via "Description" from the popup menu of custom-folder in the project graph.
  • via "Rename" from the popup menu of custom-folder in the "Project explorer" pane.
To rename a custom-folder:
  1. In the "Project explorer" pane, select the custom-folder to rename.
  2. Select "Description" from the popup menu.
  3. In the window that is displayed, modify the custom-folder name and validate.
Note: This operation can also be performed from the project graph.
Actions that can be performed on a custom-folder

Customizing the graphic representation of custom-folder

Customizing a custom-folder consists in displaying a specific background image in the custom-folder.
To customize the graphic representation of a custom-folder:
  1. Select "Description" from the popup menu of custom-folder (displayed from the project editor or from the "Project explorer" pane).
  2. Check "Custom-folder displayed in project graph" and select the requested image. This image will be displayed in the graphic representation of custom-folder.
  3. Validate.

Printing the content of custom-folder

You have the ability to print the folder of elements found in the custom-folder.
To do so, select "Print" from the popup menu of custom-folder (in the "Project explorer" pane or in the project graph).
You have the ability to print the folder of elements found in a custom-folder:
  1. Select the custom-folder in the "Project explorer" pane.
  2. Select "Print the folder of custom-folder" from the popup menu.
  3. The wizard for generating the technical folder of custom-folder elements starts.
Component
When a component is added into the current project, the elements used by this component are grouped in a custom-folder.
