..CheckSpell is used to enable or disable the automatic spell check.
The words not found in the dictionary are automatically underlined in red:
  • in the edit controls.
  • WINDEV in the columns of the Table controls.
  • Versions 22 and later
    WINDEV in the Word Processing controls.

Note: This property is equivalent to the option "Check the spelling" found:
  • in the "Details" tab of the description window of edit controls,

Syntax

Finding out whether the spell check is enabled Hide the details

<Result>: Boolean
  • True if the spell check is enabled,
  • False otherwise.
<Control name>: Character string (with or without quotes)
Name of control to use:
  • edit control,
  • WINDEV column of a Table control,
  • Versions 22 and later
    WINDEV Word Processing control.

Enabling or disabling the spell check Hide the details

<Control name>: Character string (with or without quotes)

  • True if the spell check must be enabled,

iPhone/iPad Caution: the activation (or not) of spell check is not applied directly. Indeed, the control must lose focus and regain it (in order for the system to adapt to the control keyboard).

Spelling checker used in edit controls and in the columns of a Table control

In the edit controls and columns of a Table control in a WINDEV application, ..CheckSpell uses:
ConfigureSpellCheck allows you to:
  • Versions 24 and later
    choose the spell checker used.
    New in version 24
    choose the spell checker used.
    choose the spell checker used.
  • enable the spelling checker for all the edit controls of the application.
  • configure the language used (if the OpenOffice spelling checker is used).
For the unrecognized words, the default popup menu of WINDEV proposes the following options:
  • Replacing the word by a valid word (the 8 first suggestions of OpenOffice or the integrated checker are proposed).
  • Adding the word into the dictionary.

In the Word Processing controls, ..CheckSpell is using a spell check based on dictionaries in Hunspell format.
By default, if your project contains a Word Processing control:
  • the French and English dictionaries are automatically copied (as well as their respective license) into the executable directory (configurable option in the project description window, "Options" tab).
  • the French and English dictionaries are loaded by default.
To use other dictionaries, they must be associated with a language and they must be loaded in memory by DictionaryLoad.
