From version 20, the creation of a scheduled optimization task is performed via the Scheduled elements. For more details, see HFSQL Control Center: Managing scheduled elements.
The HFSQL Control Center is used to automatically schedule optimizations on your databases.
The available optimizations are:
  • Recalculating the statistics on the keys of the files: The statistics are used when implementing a filter, creating a query or creating a view on the file. The HFSQL engine analyzes the selection condition and uses these statistics to define the most relevant items that will be used to optimize the file browsing.
  • Reindexing the files: The indexes are re-organized by the reindex operation. After the indexing operation, the access to indexes is optimized. The reindex operation automatically recalculates the statistics on the keys.
Remark: From version 19, HFSQL is the new name of HyperFileSQL.
Scheduling an automatic optimization
To schedule an automatic optimization:
  1. Select the HFSQL server onto which the scheduling must be added and go to the "Scheduled elements" tab.
  2. Click the "New" button and choose "New automatic data optimization".
  3. The wizard for adding an automatic data optimization starts.
  4. Choose the elements onto which the optimization will be applied. You have the ability to optimize:
    • The entire HFSQL server
    • A database
    • A selection of files
  5. Choose the frequency for the automatic optimization.
  6. Select the type of optimization to perform:
    • Recalculating the statistics on the keys
    • Reindexing the files
  7. If the files to optimize are password protected, this password must be specified.
    If the files are protected by different passwords, an optimization task must be created for each group of files protected by the same password.
    If some files are not password protected, they can be processed by the same optimization task as the password-protected files.
  8. Type a description of optimization to identify the scheduled task.
