Options of description window

"General" tab

The "General" tab is used to define the displayed image and its characteristics.
  • Type of image: Several types of images are available in a WEBDEV site. Each type corresponds to a specific use. See Choosing the type of image: dynamic, static, generated, ... for more details.
Linux The dynamic images are not supported.
  • Image : The [...] button is used to select the image associated with the Image control. The image displayed by the control is selected via the button, "Browse" option.Depending on the selected image, a wizard is displayed, allowing you to:
    • compress the image automatically (for the images whose size exceeds 20 KB). This option also allows you to convert the image into one of the formats suited for the Internet pages. If this option is not selected:
      • If the image is using a format not adapted to the Internet pages, the image will be converted whenever the page is generated, so this generation may be slowed down.
      • If the image is using a format adapted to the pages but if its size is too large, the time for displaying the page may be slowed down.
If you choose to perform the conversion immediately, you have the ability to select the image format and its quality. You also have the ability to use the progressive JPEG format. This format displays a page progressively while the browser loads the page.
    • automatically convert the image into one of the formats suited for the Internet pages. If this option is not selected, the image will be converted whenever the page is generated, so this generation may be slowed down. If you choose to perform the conversion immediately, you have the ability to select the image format and its quality.
    • define the image location: you can copy the image into the site directory (_WEB directory) in order to optimize the generation time of page or leave the image at its location (recommended when the file is shared between several contributors).

"Details" tab

The "Details" tab is used to specify advanced options.
Locate the image in the _WEB directory in browser code:
This option is checked by default when creating an Image control. In this case, in browser code, the image is automatically sought in the _WEB directory of the site. No specific code is required.
If this option is unchecked, the full image path must be specified to find the image. To do so, use FolderWeb.
Image protection :
If this option is checked, the popup menu of image will not be displayed in the browser. Some of the image operations available at browser level (backup, print, ...) will not be performed. This option is also available in the Clickable image controls and in the Thumbnail controls.
Versions 17 and later

Versions 19 and later
Delayed loading:
The option "Load the image when the control is displayed on the screen" is used to delay the image loading. Indeed, when a browser performs the rendering of a page, it loads the page and its images from the server. This load time may be quite long in some cases. This option allows the browser to load the image only when this one is displayed in the visible page section. You also have the ability to specify the wait image, used during the delayed image load.
