Overview
The home page allows you to easily perform the operations for creating and opening projects.

Displaying the home page

The home page can be accessed at any time.
To display the home page:
  1. Click the 29 icon at the top of the editor.
  2. Select "Welcome to XXX" in the context menu.
Note: You can also press Ctrl + <.

Displaying the news

By default, the home page displays news about the product used:
  • new available version,
  • new downloads
  • date of training sessions,
  • WINDEV Tour, ...
This page also allows you to directly access the forums or the latest FAQs.

Creating a project

The home page allows you to quickly create a project for a specific platform. To do so:
  1. Go to the home page.
  2. Click "Create a project".
    The list of different types of projects is displayed for the specified product. You can:
    • Click the desired type of project. In this case, the wizard for creating the desired type of project starts.
    • Click "Create a project" again. In this case, the full creation wizard (with choice of project type) is started.

Opening a project

The home page allows you to quickly open a project. To do so:
  1. Go to the home page.
  2. Click "Open a project".
  3. The list of pinned projects and projects opened beforehand is displayed.
  4. You can:
    • open one of the projects found in the list. Simply click the corresponding link.
    • open a project from disk. Simply click "Open a project" again, or click "Disk" and select the desired project file (WDP, WWP or WPP).
    • open a project in the SCM (Source Code Manager). Simply click "SCM" and specify (if necessary) the repository location and the project to open.
    • open a project from SCMDrive. Simply click "SCMDrive" and specify the SCMDrive login credentials: email, password and team. For more details on GDSDrive, go to SCMDrive.
    • open a project from the CLOUD. Simply click "PCSCloud" and specify the name of the cloud platform used and the project to open. For more details, log in to PCSCloud.
Remarks:
  • The search area allows you to type the name of the project to find among the pinned projects and the recent projects.
  • Only the projects that can be opened with the current product (WINDEV, WEBDEV or WINDEV Mobile) are listed. If WINDEV is installed in integrated mode (WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile integrated into WINDEV), all the previously opened projects will be listed.

Opening an example

The home page allows you to quickly open an example installed with the product used. To do so:
  1. Go to the home page.
  2. Click "Open an example".
  3. The list of examples is displayed. These examples are grouped by category:
    • Complete examples,
    • Training examples,
    • Unit examples,
    • Components.
  4. You can:
    • search for an example, by entering a keyword in the search control (identified by a magnifying glass). The list of examples is automatically refreshed with the examples that use this keyword in their name or in their description.
      A small icon allows you to quickly identify the execution platform of the example.
    • filter the examples by platform, using the different icons next to the search area.
    • open one of the examples found in the list. Simply click on the name of the example.
Remark: When opening an example:
  • If the example is not installed on the computer, it will be automatically downloaded (from a PC SOFT server) and opened.
  • If the example is installed on the computer, a copy is automatically created in "My Projects\My Examples". The copy of the project is opened. This allows you to work or make changes to this copy. The original example can be kept unchanged. Every time you open the example (via the "Open an example" option), you can work on the copy or on the original version.

Opening an example from the tutorial

WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile include a tutorial. This tutorial consists of online resources and exercises. The home page allows you to quickly open the e-lesson that corresponds to the resources of the tutorial, as well as the associated exercises. To do so:
  1. Go to the home page.
  2. Click "Tutorial".
  3. You can:
    • See the lesson e-version via the link displayed at the top.
    • Open one of the exercises from the list. These examples are grouped in the order in which they appear in the tutorial. To open the desired project, simply click the corresponding link.
Remarks:
  • If the tutorial is not installed, you can download the examples from a PC SOFT server.
  • When you open an exercise from the tutorial, a copy is automatically made in "My Projects\My Examples". The opened project corresponds to the copy. This allows you to work or make changes to this copy. Therefore, the initial project is preserved. Each time the exercise is opened via "Tutorial", you can work on the modified exercise or on the original exercise.
