Find/Replace in the current project
Warning
From version 18, the search in a project or in several projects has evolved. For more details, see Search in the editors.
The "Find/Replace" feature is used to: - Find a specified expression in the entire current project.
- Replace the expressions found in the curernt project by another expression.
Note: it is also possible to search for multiple projects. For more details, see Multi-project search. Performing a search in the current project To perform a search in the current project: - Display the "Find - Replace" pane.
- In the "Find" list, enter the expression to find.
- Specify the elements in which the search must be performed ("In" list). You have the ability to perform a default search or an advanced search.
- Specify the search criteria ("Contains", "Starts with", "Case sensitive", ...).
- Click the
icon to start the search. If elements are found, the reference of these elements is displayed in the "Find - Replace" pane. To directly access one of the elements found, double-click the element reference.
Note The search does not take into account the characteristics of the analysis or the UML model associated with the project. Performing a "Find/Replace" in the current project To perform a "Find/Replace" in the current project: - Display the "Find - Replace" pane.
- In the "Find" list, enter the expression to find.
- Enter the expression to replace in the "Replace" list.
- Specify the elements in which the search must be performed ("In" list). You have the ability to perform a default search or an advanced search.
- Specify the search criteria ("Contains", "Starts with", "Case sensitive", ...).
- Several icons are used to:
- Replace the selected expression.
- Replace the last expression found or the selected expression and find the next expression.
- Replace the last expression found or the selected expression and find the previous expression.
- Replace all the expressions found.
Note The search does not take into account the characteristics of the analysis or the UML model associated with the project. Type of search Several types of search are available: - Default search The search can be performed either in the source code of the active element, or in the entire active element (source code, code messages, fields, fields, dependencies and multilingual options), or in the entire project. The options of the default search are selected in the "Find - Replace" pane.
- Advanced search Advanced search: Specify which elements of the project to search, as well as the scope of the search (i.e. which element options to search). To perform an advanced search, simply select <Avancé...> in the "In" option of the "Find - Replace" pane.
Search criteria Regardless of the type of search performed, you can specify a combination of the following search criteria: - Contains: the expression searched for must contain the expression entered.
- Begins with: the expression searched for begins with the expression entered.
- Complete word: the expression searched for corresponds exactly to the expression specified.
- Case-sensitive: the search is case-sensitive.
- Accentuation: the search takes accents into account.
- Ignore comments: the search ignores comments (code comments beginning with //).
Marking the result of a search It is possible to mark the result of a search: all elements found in the code will then correspond to a positioning mark. To set a mark on a search result, simply click the icon before starting the search.
