SCM: Branch management window
The Source Code Manager offers a graphic interface for editing branches to optimize the management of branches in your projects. This visualization provides a synthetic vision of the project life. Displaying the window for branch management To open the branch management window, on the "SCM" tab, in the "Project" group, expand "Branches" and select "Manage branches"..
Note: If " Show all revisions" is unchecked, intermediate check-ins will not be displayed, thus providing an even more concise view. Options available from the branch management window The context menu of the circle in the "Branch" column allows several operations on the selected branch.
You can: - Change branch color: This option allows you to change the color associated with the branch. In the color selector that appears, select the desired color and confirm.
Note: This color is also used in the editor when you work on a branch. - Change branch name: This option allows you to rename the branch. In the window that is displayed, specify the new description and validate.
Note: This name is also used in the editor when working on a branch. - Switch branch and origin: This option allows you to change the project naming convention. The branch takes the name of the origin and vice versa. No changes are applied on the local disk. Opening the project located in the branch directory will be equivalent to opening the original project.
- Create a branch from this revision: This option allows you to create branches afterwards. The branch creation wizard opens immediately. For more details, see Creating a branch.
- Merge with this branch: This option allows you to retrieve the changes made in the branch. For more details, see Retrieving changes made in a branch.
- Delete this branch: This option allows you to delete the selected branch (if it becomes obsolete, for example). In this case, the SCM asks you to confirm the deletion of the branch (this action cannot be undone).
